Let’s grow local food together.

OUR MISSON

As a community, we can grow a resilient and equitable local food system, growing food through regenerative organic practices that are both better for us and better for the planet.

HOW IT WORKS

EXPAND EACH STEP TO VIEW DETAILS AND PRICING

  • Our initial consultation is an opportunity for us to evaluate your space and understand your goals. We will determine the size of your edible garden based on available locations within your yard with optimal placement for sun exposure. We will get an understanding of your vegetable needs, so we can customize your garden design in the next phase. We will provide a scope and pricing for your custom edible garden.

If we determine you have infrastructure already in place for your edible garden, you will skip Design and Custom Build and go straight to Step Four — planting of your edible garden.

    COMPLEMENTARY 30-MIN CONSULTATION

  • Once you’ve approved the plan and pricing for your custom edible garden, we’ll head into the design process. This process can involve multiple in person visits to the location to observe it at different times of day and soil testing for nutrients and toxins. We will then provide sketches and detailed plans for your edible garden layout taking into consideration the location(s) and goals we discussed during our initial consult. Our design will detail any custom woodworking builds (trellises, raised beds, chicken coops, etc) your project might need. This design phase includes one round of refinement on your selected garden design.

During our initial consultation, we may determine that an extensive design process is not necessary, and we can streamline or skip this step.

Our design fee is based on lot size.
URBAN (10,000 sq feet or less) $800
    SUBURBAN (0.25-2 Acres) $1200
    ESTATE (2-10 Acres) $2500
    AGRICULTURAL
    (10+ Acres) $4000-7000

  • Once we have an approved design plan, we’ll schedule the earthwork and build-out to execute the custom design. Our designs will detail any custom woodworking builds (trellises, raised beds, chicken coops, etc). For larger projects, this process will also include earthwork to clear and remove weeds or lawns, bring in new soil, ground cover and pathway materials. The timeline of each project varies depending on the project complexity, but can take from 2-4 weeks.

Pricing would be determined based on selected and approved design. The below pricing range reflects a range of design complexity.
    $1500-10,000 EDIBLE GARDEN
    $2000-6000 CHICKEN COOP
    $200-500 COMPOST SYSTEM

  • Once the custom build and infrastructure of your garden is complete, we are ready to plant your new edible garden. For some clients, we’ll be using their existing beds and pots, and our work with them will start here. We will amend the soil with compost and nutrients and source seedlings or direct sow edible plants.

Each of our edible garden installations come with 1-2 visits of follow-up in the first month to assure your garden gets up and running smoothly.

The below pricing includes the installation and planting of your edible garden, including material costs for plants and compost.
    $850 SMALL
    $1250 MEDIUM
    $2000 LARGE

Edible gardens, big and small

What you can grow.

In Alameda, we are lucky to have a mild temperatures that allow us to extend growing seasons longer than other areas. Some items grow almost year round, such as lettuces and leafy greens. If you love salad — we can build you a salad bar you can pick fresh from daily!

Here is a sampling of annual produce that does well in our growing zone. This is not an exhaustive list, and we’ll discuss a broader list in your initial consultation.

We can also plant perennial herbs, berries, fruit trees and pollinator plants around your annual garden to encourage a diverse ecosystem for birds, butterflies and insects.
